Royal Enfield is going to unveil the brand of electric motorcycles, Flying Flea, at CES 2025. Flying Flea also announced partnerships with Qualcomm and NDX to infuse innovative technology into its motorcycles.
The Flying Flea brand is inspired by the lightweight motorcycles Royal Enfield developed during World War II to drop with parachutes from airplanes and to be used for battlefield communications. Those bikes were called Flying Fleas.
Royal Enfield is among the oldest manufacturers of motorcycles in continuous production since 1901. From Britain, this concern has come of age today through being part and parcel of Indian conglomerate Eicher Motors Limited whose technical development center lies both in the UK as well as in India. Assemblages occur in six units located across Asia and South America, with final manufacture being sited in India.

Royal Enfield developed the Flying Flea brand to make its motorcycles different from those that run on combustion engines. Most of the company’s present models have updated versions of legacy styling that originated in the middle decades of the last century.
Classic Royal Enfield motorcycles are designed to be simple, engaging, and fun. Flying FleaEV motorcycles will be powered solely by a battery and bring together classic styling and innovation.

Flying Flea is developing its own electric motor and battery technology in-house. More than 28 patent applications have been filed for the hardware and software. So far, the two announced models are the FF-C6, which is the classic style in these photos, and the FF-S6, a scrambler model.

Little in the line of technical specifications has been revealed with regards to the Flying Flea models, except that it has let out its intention to use a Qualcomm processor custom-made for two-wheeled vehicles. The UI/XP on Flying Flea will be rider-focused and provide safety and entertainment features presented via an interactive 3.5-inch diameter round TFT cluster display.
Flying Flea promises a high degree of rider personalization with “thousands of ride mode combinations by adjusting power, regen, accelerations, ABS, and traction control to optimize for the rider and terrain.”
A limited technical release also mentions lean-angle-sensing ABS and easy-charging options. The bikes will have forged aluminum frames and magnesium battery cases to save weight.
The pictures offered by Royal Enfield and Flying Flea are handsome, but the proof will be in the pudding when the EV motorcycles are ready to ride.
